20+ years training and teaching, active police officer, and bilingual English/French instructor. JP’s classes connect calm decision-making to skills that work under pressure.
Vanguard is a serious, welcoming dojo for people who want practical skill, steady confidence, and a stronger sense of responsibility to the people around them.

Renshi JP Perron founded Vanguard to give Chesterville, North Dundas, and the surrounding municipalities a place to build real capability without ego. He brings more than 20 years of training and teaching experience, along with the perspective of an active police officer who understands what pressure looks like beyond the mat.
His standard is clear: teach useful skills, build calm people, and make sure every student feels supported enough to keep showing up. That is how confidence becomes something you can carry into work, home, and the wider community.
English and French instruction is available across kids, teens, adult, and community-protector training.
Every instructor brings a different depth of experience to the room. Together, they make training clear, disciplined, and human.

Renshi Vincent is a senior instructor and a cornerstone of Vanguard’s teaching team—instrumental to how the dojo runs and how students progress. He carries both the traditional and modern sides of the curriculum, teaching with patience and clarity while meeting students where they are and building them up step by step.

Read what is happening before urgency takes over. Prepare your body, attention, and decision-making so you can meet pressure with composure.
Lead with responsibility, not aggression. Use your voice, judgment, and presence to protect people and help situations move toward safety.
Build the skill to create boundaries, control what you can, and shield yourself, your family, and your community when it matters.

Vanguard Self-Defense Academy operates under Sōke Robert Panneton, 10th Dan Grandmaster of Organisation Jiu-Jitsu International. Senshōgo-Ryū carries that lineage forward as a modern evolution of traditional Japanese Budo—grounded in discipline, respect, and practical protection.
